I teach Algebra 1 for 9th graders and I am looking to use this model in my classroom.

What additional things have you learned from your experience?

Thanks!

DrewAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09861049742890205137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4403254905342284229.post-32837945697063194562014-01-30T18:21:59.329-06:002014-01-30T18:21:59.329-06:00Great questions Mr. Dardy! They are better at switching gears than they are about keeping focused on one task for more than 25ish minutes. Ha! Do you have a blog or other place I can read more?
Thanks! How efficient are your kids at switching gears from one activity to the next? My first thought in trying to implement this is that there would be a good amount of energy spent in trying to get kids to transition between stations.
Best of luck with this!
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4403254905342284229.post-33694552014219495072014-01-06T04:16:00.218-06:002014-01-06T04:16:00.218-06:00Hi Jessie, Interesting idea. I do something I call snowballing where groups rotate around stations and leave their work at the station for the next group to add to. Or they do the work and leave it and then groups rotate and offer feedback or evaluation - sometimes this is done after the original group has chosen their best solution / idea.
On another note - to help differentiate instruction I have abolished units and now teach through activities only. I call it cycling the curriculum. It has been a great journey. Good luck.
AlAlex Overwijkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14157244963335094945noreply@blogger.com
